Identity, Cultural Experiences and Storytelling: A Still Life in Surrealism and In-Betweenness
Rooted in my Taiwanese-Chinese heritage and New Zealand upbringing, my work integrates the classical tradition of still-life painting with surrealist elements. Through this fusion, I address themes of belonging, self-identity, and the complexities of navigating multiple cultures and changing family dynamics. My art delves into the psychological depth of objects, and their connections to my experiences, exploring the emotional resonance of in-betweenness and the shifting nature of cultural perception.
